A growing wave of concern is sweeping across Embu County as young people take to social media to decry the increasing number of youth deaths nationwide, prompting calls for a National Youth Day of Prayer.
The online uproar intensified after the recent death of popular local entertainer Justin Munene, widely known as MC Jobie, who died in a motorbike accident along the Manyatta–Kairuri route. Several others also perished in the crash.
MC Jobie’s death is the latest in a series of tragedies involving youth, with many citing road accidents, suicides, and illnesses as leading causes.
In response, local artist and entrepreneur MC Sir Robiih Kenya released a heartfelt video urging Embu youth to unite in faith and action. He proposed October 26 as a National Youth Prayer Day, to be held at Moi Stadium, with free entry.
“From January to now, we’ve seen young people in Embu die at an alarming rate. In the past two weeks, I’ve buried two friends. It’s time to seek God,” said Robiih, who also launched a Facebook group for the initiative that has already attracted over 1,000 participants.

The proposed gathering has gained traction online, with several users praising the initiative as timely and necessary.

“Count me in. The deaths are too many. We need to call on God and heal our land,” wrote Bibian Murugi Nyagah.
“We are losing track somewhere,” added Mc Yaquza. “It’s time to put aside politics and come together in unity.”
Others, like Mcee Patron Praise, echoed the call for spiritual intervention, writing: “We declare we’re not going to die prematurely. Hear us, Abba Father.”
The movement comes amid grim national statistics showing over 9,900 youth deaths reported across Kenya in the past year. Civil society groups are now urging both government and community stakeholders to address the crisis.
While plans for the Embu prayer day are still being finalized, organizers hope the event will not only honor the departed but also serve as a starting point for healing, dialogue, and preventive action.
