Residents and traders in Embu Town’s Kirimari Ward are set to benefit from improved transport and enhanced business opportunities following the launch of the tarmacking of the Rosteve–OWoods–Billionaire Road, a Sh30 million project by the Embu County Government.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony on behalf of Governor Cecily Mbarire, Deputy Governor Justus Kinyua Mugo said the project is part of the county’s commitment to modernizing road infrastructure to spur economic growth, improve mobility and enhance access to businesses and essential services.
Kinyua noted that while the county continues to invest in road upgrades, the high cost of constructing tarmac roads calls for closer collaboration with the national government to expand the road network across the county.
He said the road forms part of a wider infrastructure development programme undertaken by the county administration, highlighting the Sh1.2 billion Embu Modern Market as one of the flagship projects aimed at boosting trade and improving public infrastructure over the past four years.
Once completed, the road is expected to reduce travel time, improve connectivity and provide a safer and more reliable transport corridor for residents, motorists and traders.
The project has been welcomed by local business owners who say it will transform the trading environment by eliminating dust that has long affected businesses and discouraged customers.
Businesswoman Anastasia Njambi Kamau expressed optimism that the tarmac road will attract more customers by creating a cleaner and more accessible business environment, ultimately increasing sales and supporting the growth of enterprises along the route.
