Embu County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Health, Jamal Runyenje, has encouraged young people to embrace technology and mentorship in climate-smart agriculture to enhance resilience and economic growth.

Speaking during the Embu Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) stakeholders’ breakfast meeting at Winter Villa Hotel Embu, where he was the Chief Guest, Runyenje encouraged youth to challenge existing barriers and actively seek knowledge to drive sustainable farming practices.

“You must believe you will overcome challenges and that you are a winner. Be consistent, look for mentors, and understand that there is power in community,” he remarked.

The meeting, which brought together business leaders, exhibitors, and agricultural stakeholders, served as a precursor to the highly anticipated 2025 Embu Show, scheduled for March 13th-15th.

ASK Embu Chairman Martin Muto emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing climate change, urging industry players to adopt climate-smart agricultural practices.

“Our farmers need support in all areas of trade and allied sectors. This event provides a unique opportunity for stakeholders to interact, create partnerships, and explore innovative solutions to address climate change,” said Muto.

Former Eastern ASK Show Chairman John Mukundi highlighted the role of exhibitions in promoting research, advancing technology, and fostering agricultural excellence.

He noted that the upcoming show would provide a platform for exhibitors to market their products, create networks, and facilitate the transfer of agricultural knowledge.

Muto said they expect at least 70, 000 show-goers and 150 exhibitors in the three-day exhibitions.

As part of the activities leading up to the main event, the ASK team has organized a curtain-raiser cycling race on March 1 to raise awareness about the exhibition. The race will feature over Sh200,000 in prizes.

The 2025 Embu Show, themed Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth,” remains a critical platform for industry players to discuss emerging challenges, showcase innovations, and drive economic transformation.
