Spread the love

Embu Senator Alexander Munyi Mundigi has dismissed claims that President William Ruto received a lukewarm reception during his recent tour of the Mt Kenya region.

He said the large turnout was a testament to the people’s trust in his leadership.

Speaking on Sunday at Trinity ACK Church in Kianjokoma, Mundigi criticized opposition leaders who had predicted a cold welcome for the president, asserting that Mt Kenya residents came out in genuine support—not for handouts or coercion.

“The people of Mt Kenya believe in the president’s leadership and have genuine love for him. No one was paid to show up. They came because they see progress and potential in his leadership,” said Mundigi.

He cited the presence of leaders who had previously criticized the president, including Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, as evidence that Ruto’s development agenda was gaining wider acceptance.

The senator urged the region to unite behind the Kenya Kwanza administration, emphasizing that government support was key to unlocking development and economic growth.

He noted that Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki’s position had already benefited the region.

Mundigi accused the opposition of spreading misinformation and misleading the public with unverified claims. He called on them to offer constructive criticism rather than divide the country.

His comments come amid growing political activity in Mt Kenya, as rival camps position themselves ahead of the 2027 general election.
