Urumwe FC stunned league leaders Limbua Youth FC with a commanding 2-0 away win in a fiercely contested Embu West Sub-County League match held Sunday evening at Rukira Primary Grounds.
Despite being outplayed in the first half by the dominant Rukira-based side, the underdog visitors from Gatoori regrouped after the break, displaying tactical discipline and resilience that ultimately turned the tide.
Second-half goals sealed a crucial victory for Urumwe, dealing Limbua their first home loss and injecting fresh momentum into the title race.
“We faced a tough first half against a very defensive team, but the boys stuck to the plan. Our tactical strategies paid off in the second half, and that made the difference,” said Urumwe FC manager Muriithi Njoroge.
Njoroge, however, voiced concern over ongoing financial hardships, citing lack of transport and meals for players on match days, and urged government and private stakeholders to support grassroots football.
Team captain Denis Kamau credited their recent upturn in form to improved training ground conditions, which he said have boosted player morale.
“Beating Limbua has really motivated us. It shows we can go even further,” Kamau noted, appealing for sustained sponsor support.
Midfielder Richard Soro echoed Kamau’s sentiments, calling on fans to rally behind the team in upcoming fixtures.

Meanwhile, Limbua FC captain Alex Aboka blamed the loss on inconsistent training and inadequate facilities.
“Our preparation hasn’t been the best. We need better infrastructure to train effectively,” he said.
The win lifts Urumwe FC in the standings while putting pressure on Limbua Youth FC to bounce back as the league competition heats up.
