Embu County government has allowed 1,180 bars to resume trading following extensive investigations that unveiled their adherence to legal standards.

The move comes from heightened scrutiny necessitated by the fight against illicit brews.

Amid growing concerns over regulatory compliance and public safety, authorities embarked on a comprehensive review of bars and establishments serving alcohol.

Of the total, 519 are in Manyatta Sub-County, 151 (Runyenjes), 171 (Mbeere North), and 339 are in Mbeere South.

The approval for these bars to resume trading signifies their adherence to legal requirements and readiness to contribute positively to the community.

Governor Cecily Mbarire emphasized that ongoing monitoring and compliance checks would remain integral to maintaining the sector’s integrity and safeguarding public welfare.
