In a glittering ceremony that brought together Embu County’s finest talents, gospel artist Margret Wanjiku Paxson alias Shiku Pax emerged triumphant, claiming the coveted Manyatta Constituency Award of the Year 2023.

Pax was awarded the Best Female Artist in the constituency during the Embu Musical Annual Awards 2023, which attracted 270 contestants for different categories.

“The female artist of the year, Manyatta Constituency sponsored by Kimuri FM goes to Shiku Pax,” read the announcement.

In a moment that can only be described as cinematic, the spotlight found her, and with unwavering grace, Pax walked majestically to the stage. Each step seemed to echo the rhythm of her illustrious career.

The crowd erupted in applause, recognizing not just a victory, but a crowning moment for an artist who has consistently mesmerized audiences with her musical prowess.

This prestigious prize is a testament to her exceptional contributions to the world of creative art and music.

The awarding ceremony, held at Embu’s Moi Stadium and attended by tens of high-profile guests, celebrated local talent and creativity.

“It has been a day of awards for Embu, and as a leader, it gives me joy that we have created an enabling space for youth to flourish in the art industry,” said Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire.

Mbarire, the chief guest, referred to the ceremony as a unifying event that created opportunities for the local art industry to thrive and expand its reach.

Pax stood out for her dynamic and creative prowess, which is impossible to ignore.

Lingala ya Yesu’s hitmaker Peterson Githinji, a judge in the contest, said they only adjudicated for songs done in 2022 and 2023. 

“Our task was to select the best song in terms of quality, excellence, and creativity,” he said.

Upon receiving the award, Pax expressed her gratitude saying she was honored to receive the recognition.

“This award reflects the collective passion and creativity that defines our region’s art scene. I am grateful to be a part of such a vibrant and supportive community,” she said.

Though she learned of her talent at a tender age, the mother of two who is also an entrepreneur at Ruiru town recorded her first album in 2014. Currently, she has recorded 14 songs.

When asked about her future plans, she eagerly reveals, “I hope to record more songs soon. There’s so much more I want to share with my fans, and this award fuels my passion to deliver music that resonates and evolves.”

One pivotal moment that contributed to Pax’s remarkable journey to winning Female Artist of the Year was the unprecedented success of her recent song, Nigwocanagwa Ringi released on March 13, 2023.

Pax hails from Kibaki village of Nginda Ward, Manyatta Sub-county, Embu County.

During the event, Gospel artist Sharon Mtoto wa Mama and Gpiizo were awarded as the Best Female and Male artists in Embu County respectively.
