Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji has called for accountability over the deaths of four men in Nembure and Ishiara, urging Parliament to seek answers over the circumstances surrounding the incidents.
Speaking in Parliament, Mukunji raised the cases of Moses Munene and Mike Lewis Macharia, who he said were killed by police during a Pasua Mlima meeting hosted by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire at Nembure Grounds.
The legislator also highlighted the deaths of Patrick Kariuki and Morris Mugo, popularly known as Macheda, who died amid protests over demands for better healthcare services at Ishiara Level 4 Hospital.
Mukunji is seeking explanations over the deaths and accountability for those responsible, expressing concern that no police officers have been held accountable in connection with the incidents.
The MP, who is eyeing the Embu gubernatorial seat, has called for the matter to be addressed to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the deaths are established and those found culpable are held accountable.
