Bodaboda operators in Embu town have called for thorough investigations into the mysterious disappearance of their colleague, Stephen Theuri, who operates around Cylet supermarket in Embu town.
The protests, marked by the symbolic burning of tires along Embu-Meru hand Embu-Kiritiri highways on Friday, caused significant traffic disruptions and business shutdown, highlighting the deepening frustration among the bodaboda community.
The riders alleged that a prison police officer could have been involved in the sudden disappearance of their colleague following an existing grudge between the operator and the officer.
Arise Media learned that their suspicion came from their knowledge of the existing grudge between the rider, who had conflicts with the officer for assaulting his (Theuri’s) wife.
Theuri’s wife had raised concerns over inappropriate medical waste disposal from the chemist owned by the officer, which posed risks to children and led to a confrontation. The Chemist is located in Majimbo market, in the outskirts of Embu town.
Theuri’s family had filed an assault case against the police officer which was yet to be heard in the court.
It took the intervention of Kamiu location chief, Sammy Mugo who called for soberness and cooperation from the community as authorities continued to investigate the matter.
The police officer has already been arrested and booked at the Mugoya Police post awaiting further directions.
