The Winas Sacco Society, Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Embu League is gearing up for its Leg 2 matches following the success of the inaugural leg held at DEB Kangaru Primary School, Embu.
With high expectations among volleyball enthusiasts, teams are gearing up to battle it on the court for supremacy.
The Leg 2 matches are set for May 18th, 2024 at Umau grounds in Kiritiri, Mbeere South constituency.
The society set aside Sh700,000 for the Embu Volleyball League towards fostering sports development in Embu County.
The league has 15 teams coming from different parts of the County.
In the inaugural leg held on April 27th, 2024, Siakago took the lead in the standings with 1 point clear of the Lions, who took the second position with 8 points, while the superstars took the third position with 6 points.
Joseph Migua, the KVF Embu Branch Organizing Secretary affirmed the precision of score analysis saying the matches were well coordinated by trained KVF referees.
Migua voiced apprehensions about the volleyball’s lagging progress in the region, attributing it to a notable lack of financial support.
He expressed heartfelt appreciation to Winas Sacco for their invaluable sponsorship of the Winas Sacco KVF Embu League.
“The Winas Sacco sponsorship has motivated a lot of teams to come out to participate in the leagues. The overall top team will be awarded Sh100,000,” he said.
James Njiru, the Winas Sacco Marketing manager, reaffirmed Sacco’s unwavering commitment to the development of volleyball in the County.
