Law enforcers in Embu County have taken decisive action in a targeted operation against the proliferation of illicit brews, resulting in the arrest of 38 individuals and the closure of a notorious bar last night.

County Commissioner Jack Obuo said the 38 were arrested while consuming the illicit brew at the Azimio Bar in the Ena area, at the Manyatta and Runyenjes Constituencies border.

The police were operating following a tipoff by the members of the public when they found the 38 consuming the brew. Obuo said the 38 would be arraigned in court to rid the county of illegal and harmful brews.

According to Obuo, the law enforcers have already closed more than 300 bars in Embu County.

Governor Cecily Mbarire who was present during last night’s raid, thanked the public for their unwavering support in sharing crucial information with the authorities.

“Through such collaborative efforts, we will make significant strides in our fight against this menace,” she said.
