Residents from Kiandundu village in Mbeti North ward of Manyatta Constituency, Embu County are up in arms over the poor state of the road stretching between gwa Kianya and Kiandundu primary school.

The three-kilometer road, which was graded last year during campaign season is in a pathetic state with huge potholes that have made movement along the route cumbersome.

Residents stagged a protest against the impassable road questioning the kind of workmanship by the contractor who left the road works incomplete.

“The road was lastly graded during the electioneering period but not even a single spade of murram was put,” said Peter Njiru, a boda boda operator.

Njiru said the poor state has occasioned endless falls especially now the heavy rains continue to hit the ground.

“Many customers have resulted to walking, fearing possible accidents. We call upon our leaders to faithfully play their part,” he said.

Mary Njoki, a resident revealed that boda boda operators had also hiked fares as a result of poor road networks.

Residents are hopeful their MCA Murithi Kobole will look at the matter in the shortest time possible.

Our efforts to reach MCA Kobole for his comments over the issue bore no fruits since the calls were not going through.
