In a world where every second counts, one woman from Rukuriri village of Runyenjes constituency, Embu County is changing the morning routines of people around Mt. Kenya region through a groundbreaking invention.

Meet Millicent Karige, the woman behind the Okoa Uji Flour, a revolutionary product designed to streamline breakfast preparation and make mornings more efficient for those heading to work.

The inspiration for this flour struck Ms Karige after myriad talks with friends who confessed to having hectic mornings when they find themselves racing against time to prepare a nutritious breakfast before heading to the office.

Fueled by the desire to find a solution to the daily breakfast dilemma, she discussed the issue with a friend and embarked on a journey of experimentation and innovation that would ultimately redefine the way we approach the most important meal of the day.

“Many people find themselves racing against the clock to prepare breakfast. At times, many skip it due to challenging work schedules. With Okoa Uji flour no one can skip this important meal,” she says.

With this idea and armed with enough capital, the duo started production of the porridge flour packaged by OKOA MILLERS Limited, a company located in Nairobi-Kenya.

Okoa Uji is not your typical breakfast product. It’s a carefully crafted blend of high-quality grains and cereals, processed to perfection for quick and easy preparation.

“The ingredients are millet, maize, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. The innovative flour formula has garnered widespread attention for its ability to cut down breakfast preparation time significantly,” she reveals.

The magic lies in the unique combination of ingredients that ensure a hearty and nutritious bowl of porridge in just a fraction of the time traditional methods would take.

She notes that the flour is carefully made in a way that doesn’t compromise the health benefits of a traditional bowl of porridge and is packed in sachets that cost Sh10 each.

Preparation of porridge using this flour is simple and takes minutes freeing up precious time for other morning activities.

“You only need to have hot water and the Okoa Uji flour. Put the hot water in a normal cup or glass and add one sachet of the flour then stir gently for a few minutes. It will be ready for consumption,” she explains.

This invention has not only simplified mornings but has also sparked a conversation about the importance of time-efficient, healthy breakfast options in our fast-paced society.
