The Embu County Government has launched a Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF) micro-grant program.

The initiative aims to provide financial support to young innovators and activists dedicated to environmental sustainability.

Governor Cecily Mbarire emphasized the critical role of youth in addressing the pressing issues of climate change.

“Micro-grants range from Sh130,000 to Sh500,000 and are available for youth aged 15 to 24 years to design and implement climate change solutions in Embu,” she said.

These funds support various climate-related projects, including renewable energy initiatives, conservation efforts, sustainable agriculture, and community awareness campaigns.

Youth-led and youth-serving groups and organizations are encouraged to apply by submitting applications to the email; climate.embu@gmail.com on or before June 24, 2024, by 4 pm.

Youth-led projects can include community gardening, tree planting, reforestation, and urban farming, public education campaigns, climate resilience workshops, recycling or waste reduction initiatives, active transportation campaigns at schools, and greenhouse gas emission reduction programs.
