An Embu Dairy Union is set to be officially launched on Thursday, January 15, 2026, during the Embu Dairy Farmers Expo to be held at Kigari Teachers Training College.
The event, aims at bringing together dairy farmers, cooperatives, regulators and development partners from across Embu County under the theme “Uniting Embu Dairy Farmers for a Sustainable Dairy Industry.”
The launch of the Embu Dairy Union marks the culmination of the Dosika na Maziwa Bora programme initiated in 2024 by Embu’s Daima Sacco Society.
“The programme focuses on promoting quality milk production, improved dairy farming practices and sustainability, paving the way for the formation of a farmer-led union,” said Mary Njoka, the Daima Sacco Society Marketing Manager during the launch of Dosika na Maziwa Bora program.

Organisers say the Union will serve as a central platform to unite dairy farmers, improve milk quality, enhance access to markets, strengthen bargaining power and increase farmers’ incomes through collective action.
The Expo will also offer a forum for learning, networking and showcasing innovations along the dairy value chain, with support from institutions including the Kenya Dairy Board and other sector stakeholders.
Dairy farmers, agribusiness players, extension officers, financial institutions and members of the public have been invited to attend the Expo and witness what organisers describe as a major step towards a sustainable and organized dairy industry in Embu County.
The Embu Dairy Farmers Expo and the launch of the Embu Dairy Union will take place at Kigari Teachers Training College grounds from 9 a.m., with organizers calling on stakeholders to turn up in large numbers.
