At least 3,800 farmers from Kagaari and Nginda wards have received avocado seedlings, dairy goats, macadamia seedlings, and beehives from the Embu County government in a collaborative initiative with various development partners.
The distribution event was held at Kanja Chief’s Camp in Kagaari North.
Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, who spoke during the event, emphasized that the move aims to boost production in the region.
The increased agricultural output is expected to support the operationalization of the County aggregation park at Machang’a in Mbeere South.
“The distribution of these agricultural inputs is a step towards enhancing productivity and ensuring that our farmers can meet local and international market demands,” said Governor Mbarire.
She also urged the farmers to form cooperatives to strengthen their bargaining power.
Livestock Department Chief Officer, Hellen Njeru and Kagaari North MCA Muchangi Mwariama were among the officials who lauded the initiative.
They highlighted the potential economic benefits and the importance of such partnerships in promoting sustainable agriculture in the county.
