Practical Action, in partnership with the International Network on Gender and Sustainable Energy (ENERGIA) and Hivos, is advancing women’s leadership in clean energy access through the third phase of the Women in Energy Enterprises in Kenya (WEEK III) Project.
The initiative is set to host a knowledge-sharing event for women entrepreneurs in the energy sector at Moi Stadium, Embu, on September 13 and 14, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The event, organized in collaboration with the County Government of Embu, will showcase clean energy technologies available in the market and offer the public an opportunity to purchase these products at discounted rates.
Immaculate Wafula, Gender & Advocacy Officer at Practical Action, emphasized that the event aims to boost women’s participation in the clean energy sector by highlighting innovations in clean cooking, lighting, and income-generating technologies, also known as Productive Use of Energy (PUE).
“This platform not only elevates women entrepreneurs but also fosters a just and inclusive energy transition, which is crucial for sustainable development,” Wafula said.
The WEEK III Project focuses on ensuring women have opportunities to lead, participate in, and benefit from clean energy initiatives, positioning them at the forefront of a green energy revolution in Kenya.
All are invited to attend, engage with women entrepreneurs, and explore affordable clean energy products that promise to drive sustainable development in Embu and beyond.
