Winas Sacco Society Ltd announced a substantial sponsorship of Sh700,000 for the Embu Volleyball League towards fostering sports development in Embu County.

The sponsorship is a timely boost for the local volleyball community, signaling a promising future for the sport in the region.

The announcement was made during the Launch of the Embu Volleyball League at Embu’s Talent Academy during the weekend, where representatives from Winas Sacco, the County Government Department of Sports, and the Embu Volleyball League were present.

Mr. Patrick Nthiga, the assistant CEO of Winas Sacco, expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting grassroots sports initiatives and empowering youth through sporting activities.

“Winas Sacco decided to sponsor this league to promote the talent in the county and preach the gospel of this Sacco that has benefitted many people through savings and credit,” he said.

Nthiga noted that the Embu Volleyball League plays a vital role in nurturing talent and promoting healthy competition among the youth in the community.

“As Winas Sacco, we are proud to be associated with such initiatives, and our sponsorship reflects our dedication to youth development and community engagement,” he added.

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF), Embu County League Chairman Mr. John Gitari expressed gratitude to Winas Sacco for their generous support towards talents.

The Sh700,000 sponsorship package will cover various aspects of the Embu Volleyball League, including required team kits, equipment, venue expenses, and administrative costs for 15 teams.

“This sponsorship is a game-changer for us. It will enable us to elevate the standard of volleyball in Embu and provide our players with better opportunities to showcase their talent on a larger stage,” said Gitari.

The Embu Volleyball League, which comprises teams from various sub-counties within Embu County, is expected to witness increased participation and competitiveness following the injection of funds from Winas Sacco.

The County Chief Officer for Youths, Sports, and Talent Development, Pithon Mucoki emphasized the positive impact that initiatives like the Embu Volleyball League can have on the lives of young people.

He extended his heartfelt appreciation to Winas Sacco for their continued partnership and urged other corporate entities to follow suit in supporting grassroots sports initiatives.

“We are immensely grateful to Winas Sacco for their generous support towards talent nurturing in Embu County. Their sponsorship is a testament to their belief in the potential of our youth and their commitment to providing opportunities for them to excel in sports,” he said.

The Leg 1 fixtures of the Embu Volleyball League are scheduled for Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at Kangaru DEB Embu at 9:00 am, setting the stage for an exhilarating display of talent and competition.

As the countdown to April 27th begins, preparations are underway to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for all involved.
