Embu County’s development has come to a standstill following the torching and vandalism of several county offices during a peaceful anti-finance bill protest that escalated into riots.
Among the damaged properties was the governor’s office, resulting in losses amounting to Sh150 million.
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) offices were also vandalized, with property worth about Sh20 million stolen.
In response to the destruction, Embu Senator Alexander Mundigi has called for constructive dialogue between the community and its leadership to address the pressing issues.
“I plead with Embu residents to allow constructive discussions with leaders to identify issues that need to be rectified so that development progress can continue in the county,” Mundigi said.
He highlighted that the county can overcome its current challenges and resume its development trajectory through cooperation and dialogue.
The recent unrest has raised concerns among county officials and residents about the future of development projects in Embu.
With significant resources already lost, the call for peaceful resolution and collaboration is crucial to preventing further setbacks.
