The University of Embu has signed two key Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to equip students with practical skills in agriculture and dispute resolution.
The agreements, signed on Friday, were with Tosak Investment Limited, a major player in the agricultural sector, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), a leading body in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
University Chancellor Paul Musili said the partnerships would strengthen students’ ability to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.
“These partnerships are designed to bolster our students’ capabilities, enabling them to address real-world challenges with effective solutions,” Musili said during the signing ceremony.
Chebett Koske, CEO of CIArb, said the collaboration seeks to introduce ADR early in students’ careers, helping them resolve workplace conflicts effectively.
She added that it is part of the institute’s strategy to decentralize ADR services.
Mungai Kimuri, CEO of Tosak Investment Limited, said the partnership would expose students to modern farming practices that address climate change and food insecurity.
“Tosak Investment is committed to introducing students to cutting-edge agricultural techniques that will enhance their practical knowledge and empower them to tackle food security challenges in Kenya,” he said.
The event was attended by senior officials from both institutions and enthusiastic students eager to tap into the new opportunities.
