The former Embu senatorial seat aspirant Bosco Kiura has urged voters to reject electing leaders based on sympathy, warning that emotional choices have hindered the county’s progress.
Addressing a press conference, Kiura criticized the tendency to reward failed leaders with re-election, arguing that such decisions result in incompetent governance.
“Sympathy votes give us bad leaders who eventually betray the very people who trusted them,” he said.
He called out politicians who only speak out against government malpractice after being sacked, saying they manipulate public emotions for political gain.
“When they are dismissed for poor performance, they run to you with tears hoping you will vote them back. Don’t fall for that drama,” he cautioned.
Kiura emphasized the need for voters to assess candidates based on merit, performance, and integrity. He challenged Embu residents to demand clear development plans and a clean record from all aspirants.
“Our farms, our children’s education, and our health services depend on how we vote. Let’s not entrust our future to those who only know how to cry and blame others,” he stated.
Kiura promised to champion accountability and equitable resource distribution if elected, saying Embu’s potential has been stifled by poor leadership rooted in personal loyalties and emotional ties.
His remarks resonated with youth and civil society groups advocating for issue-based politics ahead of the 2027 elections, signaling a possible shift in Embu’s political culture.
