Rotarians from the Mount Kenya region organized a charity golf tournament at Embu Golf Club in Rwika area of Embu County to raise funds for over 2,500 differently abled children ahead of the upcoming Mount Kenya Sunshine Rally.

The tournament, held over the weekend, aimed to generate financial support for essential resources such as mobility aids and food supplies for the needy.

The proceeds will go toward the 3rd Mount Kenya Sunshine Rally, scheduled for March 29 at Embu University Grounds, where thousands of children with disabilities will gather for a day of mentorship, fun, and empowerment.

Embu Rotary Club President Brian Mteeve emphasized the annual event’s importance in supporting vulnerable children.

“This tournament is not just about golf; it’s about making a difference in the lives of these children. Through such initiatives, we ensure they receive the support they need,” Mteeve stated.

He called on national and county governments to collaborate with charitable organizations to enhance social welfare programs.

Kirinyaga Rotary Club President Martin Gacheru echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the initiative’s role in raising awareness about the challenges differently abled children face.
