Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji has pledged a thorough investigation into allegations of malpractice by medics at Embu Level 5 Hospital, vowing to hold those involved accountable for profiteering from resources intended for patients.
Addressing mourners at Kiambuthi in Kirimari Ward, Embu town during the funeral of bodaboda rider Bruce Munene, the MP expressed outrage over reports that medical supplies, which the government zero-rated to lower healthcare costs, were allegedly being misappropriated for personal enrichment.
“Equipment and resources provided to healthcare facilities by the government are intended to improve healthcare services, not to enrich a few through theft or misuse. I will not hesitate to expose anyone involved in such malpractice,” he declared.
The MP emphasized his commitment to transparency and accountability, promising to name and shame any medical staff found guilty of misconduct.
He urged stakeholders in the healthcare sector to prioritize patients’ rights and ensure fair distribution of medical resources.
Mukunji’s remarks come amid increasing public concern over the management of public health facilities.
Patients often cite shortages of critical supplies and services despite government funding.
