Manyatta Member of Parliament Gitonga Mukunji has challenged the national government to complete development projects initiated in Mbeere North during the recent parliamentary by-election, warning against what he termed as “campaign launches” that fail to translate into tangible results.

Speaking during the burial of the late Alexander Ndwiga at Kamviu Village in Manyatta Constituency, Mukunji expressed concern that several projects unveiled during the by-election period have since stalled, raising questions about the sincerity of government commitments.

He urged President William Ruto to ensure that development initiatives go beyond publicity, insisting that projects should not only be launched but also fully implemented for wananchi to benefit.

“Launching projects for political mileage without completion amounts to misleading the public,” the MP said, adding that residents deserve accountability and visible development.

Mukunji also took issue with county governments, challenging them to step up maintenance of county roads following the allocation of the Road Maintenance Levy Fund to devolved units. He said poor road conditions continue to hamper economic activities despite the availability of funds.

At the same time, the legislator noted that Members of Parliament are still pushing for the improvement of key national roads, which he said are critical in enhancing mobility, trade, and access to services across the region.

His remarks come amid growing public scrutiny over stalled projects and the use of development pledges during election periods.
