Milbrook International School in Embu, in collaboration with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), hosted a civic education session aimed at fostering democratic values among students.
The event coincided with the school’s student elections, where pupils participated in a mock voting exercise simulating national electoral procedures.
School Principal Alphonce Kindavi said the initiative emphasized ethical leadership, integrity, and the dangers of voter bribery.
“We want to instill in our students the importance of transparency, responsibility, and service to others,” he said.
IEBC Returning Officer for Mantyatta Constituency, John Kinyua, lauded the initiative, noting that early exposure to elections nurtures responsible citizenship.

“Teaching young people to handle both victory and defeat graciously is crucial. It will help reduce post-election conflicts in the future,” he stated.
Student presidential candidate George Chomba pledged to advocate for inclusive leadership, while his running mate Emmy Diana prioritized mental health awareness and a stand against corruption.
The IEBC-led session is part of ongoing national efforts to build civic competence and leadership skills among Kenya’s youth.
