Mbeere South Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) have declared their intent to support one of their own for the parliamentary seat in the 2027 general election, citing years of neglect, marginalization, and failed leadership.
Addressing journalists, the MCAs presented a united front, announcing a campaign to end what they termed as systemic underdevelopment and political exclusion.
The leaders emphasized that unity, not division, would drive transformation in the constituency.
“We are not just politicians anymore—we are the voice of a wounded people,” said Ngari Mbaka, Mavuria MCA and chair of the Mbeere South MCAs caucus.
He cited successful lobbying for key projects such as the Embu County archives and the KenGen water pipeline as evidence of what local leadership can achieve.
Kiambere MCA Lenny Masters described the County Assembly as the “incubation chamber” for future national leaders, urging colleagues to rise and take control of the region’s destiny.
Makima MCA Philip Nzangi accused past leaders of exploiting the region’s vast natural resources while sidelining it in development.
“Everything that fuels Embu County begins in Mbeere South. Yet we are treated as an afterthought,” he said.
Mbeti South MCA Muriithi Kiura condemned long-standing political manipulation through land disputes, while Mwea MCA Job Itumo made a rallying call for unity and challenged the current MP, Nebert Muriuki, to serve all constituents equitably.
The declaration signals a brewing political battle in Mbeere South ahead of 2027, with the MCAs positioning themselves as a formidable, united force for change.
