United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Chairperson and Embu Governor Cecily Mutito Mbarire has lodged a formal complaint at the Ishiara Police Station, accusing former Deputy President and DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua of orchestrating a plot to disrupt an opposition rally set for Sunday in Mbeere North.
Speaking to journalists after recording her statement, Mbarire said party intelligence had received “credible reports” that Gachagua was allegedly planning to ferry individuals into the constituency disguised in UDA-branded attire to incite violence during the event.
“On Wednesday night, we received information that there is a coordinated scheme by DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua to ferry goons from outside Mbeere North and even beyond Embu County,” Mbarire claimed.

She added that Gachagua was attempting to capitalize on widely circulated videos appearing to show government supporters issuing threats against him, insisting that those individuals were acting on their own and not on behalf of UDA.
“The individuals seen in the viral videos are supporters of the government, but their utterances were personal and do not represent the party’s stance,” she said.
The governor urged police to safeguard residents and ensure calm during Sunday’s rally, warning that any attempt to trigger violence should be thwarted early.
A UDA legal representative accompanying Mbarire also cautioned the DCP party against campaigning for Newton Kariuki alias Karish, saying he is not legally recognized as a DCP candidate.
