A businessman in Embu has called on the county leaders to create more opportunities for talented youths by prioritizing their inclusion in government roles.
Ken Java Mwaniki, popularly known as Wakagoto, made the appeal during the musician Mucangi wa Kavengi’s inclusive concert held at Kiriari Primary School, Manyatta Constituency.
Wakagoto emphasized the importance of supporting young people excelling in music, arts, and sports through dedicated government initiatives.
He proposed the establishment of a County Executive Committee Member (CECM) position for Youth and Sports to champion policies that nurture talent.
“We are grateful to the organizers for mobilizing such a vibrant audience. As our elected leaders, we appeal to you to advocate for a position like CECM for Youth and Sports to ensure talents are represented,” Wakagoto said, directly addressing area MP Gitonga Mukunji.
He emphasized that such a role would ensure the voices of talented individuals in Embu are represented in policymaking and government initiatives.
MP Gitonga Mukunji, who attended the event, lauded Wakagoto’s proposal and assured the community of his commitment to promoting youth empowerment.
“I appreciate Ken Java for highlighting the need for government intervention in supporting talents. I promise that these initiatives will be implemented when I become governor,” Mukunji assured, adding that his office would continue providing platforms for showcasing talent.
The concert, which drew a vibrant audience, highlighted the untapped potential of Embu’s youth and the pressing need for collaborative efforts to unlock opportunities.
