The Community Health Promoters (CHPs) and health workers from Embu County have voluntarily launched a cleanup initiative focused on government health facilities.
The team seek to improve sanitation standards in the health facilities with an aim of encountering diseases caused by lack of sanitation especially now the heavy rains continue to hit the ground.
A total of 99 health facilities received attention during the exercise, involving tasks such as clearing overgrown vegetation, unblocking drains, managing waste, and overall facility cleaning.
The event was initiated at Dallas Level 2 Hospital and overseen by the County Executive Committee Member for Health, Mr. Francis Ndwiga who was joined by the Chief Officer of Public Health, Mr. Yusuf Kaburia, and the Director of Public Health, Mr. Paul Ngari.
Mr. Ndwiga said the extensive CHP network will be leveraged to support primary health care services at Levels 1, 2, and 3, aiming to enhance healthcare delivery to the people of Embu.
