The Government has officially launched the Huduma Smart Serikalini initiative in Ashabito Sub-County, Mandera North, as part of a bold drive to decentralize public services and improve service delivery across Kenya.

The milestone event, presided over by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, also marked the operationalization of Ashabito as a new administrative unit.

“Our goal is to ensure no Kenyan is left behind. Huduma Smart Serikalini is our transformative vehicle for delivering efficient, timely, and citizen-focused services,” said CS Ruku.

The launch coincided with the completion of Ashabito Sub-County Headquarters and the Deputy County Commissioner’s office, built through the NG-CDF under Mandera North MP Abdullahi Bashir Sheikh.

These offices will now house all National Government departments, drastically cutting travel time for residents seeking essential services.

During the event, CS Ruku also oversaw the distribution of 700 bags (35 tonnes) of relief food, and the commissioning of Sh39 million in NG-CDF bursaries for needy students in the region.

In a forward-looking announcement, the CS revealed plans for a Huduma Centre in Rhamu, which will serve as a centralized hub for public services in Mandera North.

“This move reflects our ‘Fresh Approach, Timeless Impact’ philosophy,” he said, emphasizing government efforts to integrate remote communities into the national service network.

Local leaders, including Mandera Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif and MPs from Mandera and Wajir, hailed the initiative as a game changer for development, security, and economic empowerment.

The initiative supports Article 232 of the Constitution, promoting equitable access, accountability, and citizen participation in public service.

CS Ruku reaffirmed that the Huduma Smart Serikalini rollout is a testament to the government’s grassroots-driven, inclusive development agenda.
