Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire and Public Service Cabinet Secretary nominee Geoffrey Ruku rushed to the Embu County Assembly on Thursday evening to negotiate with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) who had threatened to disrupt President William Ruto’s upcoming tour, citing bias in planning the visit.
The MCAs accused the governor of sidelining them in the arrangements and vowed to disband the Governor’s Delivery Unit (GDU) in protest.
Tensions flared as they demanded an inclusive approach to planning high-profile visits to the county.
President Ruto is set to begin his visit on Friday (Today) in Mbeere South Sub-County, where he is expected to launch development projects and engage with local leaders and residents.

Meanwhile, parts of Embu town have undergone a cleanup exercise in preparation for the president’s arrival.
Local authorities have mobilized resources to enhance the town’s appearance and facilitate smooth movement during the tour.
The meeting between Governor Mbarire, CS nominee Ruku, and the MCAs continued late into the night in efforts to resolve the impasse and prevent potential disruptions to the presidential tour.
