In a move aimed at enhancing accessibility to government services and promoting efficiency, the much-anticipated Huduma Centre is set to open its doors in Runyenjes town of Embu County.

The Huduma Centre, a one-stop shop for various government services, is poised to become a focal point for Runyenjes residents seeking essential documents and assistance.

Area MP Eric Muchangi alias Karemba said construction of the Centre will be launched in February 2024.

Officials from the Ministry of Public Service and those from the Huduma Kenya directorate have already visited the site where the facility will be located.

“Currently, we get government services at the Huduma center in Embu town where we grapple with congestion among other frustrating issues,” he said.

The MP noted that due to increasing demand for essential documents and services, he lobbied for the center which would ease the burden on the existing facility.

Muchangi noted that over 6,000 government services have been consolidated online, therefore the need for enhancing accessibility, convenience, and efficiency for citizens across.

The initiative is driven by the commitment to streamline public services and harness the power of technology.

Residents of Runyenjes have expressed optimism about the potential benefits the Huduma Centre will bring to their community.

“Opening the facility would mark a significant milestone for us, as it aims to bridge the gap between citizens and government agencies, promoting transparency and accountability. It will also save us time,” said Peter Njuki, a resident of Runyenjes.

Jane Muthoni, a resident, was optimistic that the center would come up with innovative initiatives that would be a game-changer in creating job opportunities for residents.

Inside the Huduma Centre, the MP said there will be an ICT hub where young people will have an opportunity to acquire the much-needed training and opportunities available online.
