Four people died after a grisly road accident occurred at Nithi bridge along the Embu-Meru highway.

The accident involved a Kensilver bus heading to Nairobi from Maua on Sunday noon when its brakes failed leading to the crash.

The four included two female passengers, one male passenger, and a minor. According to the reports, the bus had 39 passengers on board during the incident.

Eight other passengers were seriously injured in the crash and have been admitted to Chogoria and Chuka hospitals. 

Zaccheaus Ngeno, Tharaka-Nithi County police commander cautioned all drivers to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy always.

The Nithi bridge located in Meru County has been labeled a blackspot following the number of accidents that have occurred in the section.
