The County of Embu former governor Martin Wambora is facing investigations over Sh1.6 billion questionable pending bills incurred during his tenure.
Wambora is also on the spot for failure by his administration to remit Sh532 million statutory deductions.
The senate watchdog committee resolved to have the ex-governor investigated following a report that Governor Cecily Mbarire’s administration inherited Sh2.3 billion in pending bills.
The revelations emerged during a committee hearing where Governor Mbarire told the County Public Accounts committee that she established a task force that found eligible pending bills worth only Sh705.2 million.
Mbarire said some of the bills she inherited were quite exaggerated while others had neither contractual timelines nor local purchase orders.
Governor Wambora served in the Embu’s top seat for 10 years.
