Former Embu County Chief Officer for Livestock and Blue Economy Pithon Muchoki is demanding an official explanation from Governor Cecily Mbarire following his recent dismissal, claiming he was never formally notified of his removal.
Muchoki, who was affected by last week’s cabinet reshuffle, stated that he learned about his dismissal through social media and has yet to receive any official communication or dismissal letter from the county government.
“For a week now, I have not received official communication regarding my removal. I have already handed over to the new Chief Officer, Stephen Njeru Mwita, but I am yet to be told what mistake I may have committed,” Muchoki said.
Speaking at a burial ceremony a day after the reshuffle, Governor Mbarire defended her decision to dismiss some chief officers, stating that they had been involved in politics instead of focusing on service delivery.
However, she did not mention any names. She emphasized that her administration needed a team committed to implementing and effectively communicating her manifesto to the people of Embu.
Taking to Facebook, Muchoki expressed frustration over the lack of due process, arguing that he had the right to be informed and given a chance to explain himself.
He maintained that he diligently served the county and deserved a fair hearing.
