Bebabeba operators in Embu town have launched a new eatery joint and pool table establishment to diversify their income streams and boost earnings.

The operators aim to attract more customers and provide additional recreational services to the local community.

The grand opening, which took place on Wednesday, was attended by Manyatta MP John Gitonga Mukunji, the office of the area MCA, business leaders, and residents.

The new venture, United BebaBeba Self Help Group (SHG) Hotel & Pool Table business, is strategically located near the Embu town market, making it easily accessible.

“This is a significant step towards economic empowerment for the Bebabeba operators. These diversification are commendable and will undoubtedly contribute to the economic growth of this region,” said Mukunji.

The MP appealed to all traders within the market to patronize the new hotel and other businesses, emphasizing that local support is crucial for boosting trade and ensuring the success of such initiatives.

“This is a commendable move that will not only benefit the operators but also provide employment opportunities for our youth,” added Kelvin Ireri, the Kirimari Ward Manager who represented MCA Ibrahim Swaleh.

Albert Kiprono, the chairman of the Bebabeba Operators Association in Embu town, appreciated the government for the Uwezo Fund loan initiative that has enabled them to start the business.

“This venture is not just about diversifying our income. The additional revenue will contribute significantly to ensuring all our operators have active NHIF cards, providing them with crucial health insurance coverage,” Kiprono stated.

At the end of the year, the operators will plan how the members would directly benefit each of them, further enhancing their financial stability and well-being.

“In the Kiritiri stage, we have 70, Nairobi (40) and Nairobi (32) members making a total of 142 members,” he said.

Residents have welcomed the new establishment, expressing hope that it would enhance the town’s social and economic landscape.
