An 80-year-old man from Embu County has regained his smile and confidence after receiving a full set of dentures, courtesy of Neema Universal Healthcare Hospital.
Mzee Njiru Ireri, a resident of Kiriari Village in Manyatta Constituency, had lived for years without teeth — a condition that silenced his laughter and limited his social interactions. That changed when Neema Hospital stepped in.
The hospital’s director, Dr. Patrick Kariuki, and the management team facilitated the full dental restoration at no cost to the elderly man, as part of their ongoing community outreach efforts.
“He came to us soft-spoken and reserved, not out of shame, but because he had simply adapted to life without teeth,” said Dr. Kariuki. “We knew we could help bring back his joy.”
After the procedure, Mzee Ireri looked into the mirror and smiled freely for the first time in years. Staff at the hospital described the moment as emotional and uplifting.
“This is more than dentistry — it’s about restoring dignity and the human spirit,” added Dr. Kariuki.
