The Dallas Level 3 Hospital in Embu town has commenced 24-hour operations, Health County Executive Committee Member (CEC) Jamal Runyenje has announced.
Runyenje highlighted the hospital’s potential impact on the local community, encouraging residents from the populous catchment area to patronize the facility.
“This Level 3 hospital has a modern maternity that has been greatly underutilized. I encourage residents to patronize the facility,” he added.
The CEC underscored the operational capability of the hospital’s modern maternity wing, citing the newborn baby on Monday night.
In addition to the extended hours, Runyenje announced that Dallas Level 3 Hospital had been selected as one of five facilities across Embu County to pilot the new Health Management System to be installed soon.
“As a department, we are deliberate and consistent in transforming healthcare delivery in Embu County,” Runyenje said.
He added, “We are set to install the system on a pilot basis in 5 of our facilities including Kiritiri L3, Gategi L3, Runyenjes L4, Siakago L4 & Dallas L3. We intend to run the pilot program for one month before bringing on board all the 99 facilities on the platform.”
The Kenya EMR system is an all-around real-time Health Management System (HMS) developed by a tripartite team, consisting of representatives from Paledium Kenya, Health IT, and Chuka University ICT.
Runyenje said the system has all the specs required in the modern-day health service delivery space.
“We have embedded the use of technology in the Embu County Health Services Act. Through this, we get closer to actualizing the vision of an all-round Integrated Health Management system,” he said.
The move is part of a broader strategy to improve health services and accessibility for county residents.
