Newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, Geoffrey Ruku, has called on Kenyans to support President William Ruto and his deputy, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, promising streamlined and citizen-focused service delivery.
Speaking at the Easter Sunday service and ordination ceremony at Ítúgúrúrú Baptist Church in Chuka Igambang’ombe, Ruku made his first public remarks since assuming office, emphasizing unity, development, and accountability.
“The country was in bad shape when President Ruto took over. But today, projects that had stalled are now back on track,” Ruku said, citing the Ítúgúrúrú-Mate Road and Natasha Makena Hospital as examples of ongoing development.
The CS assured that his ministry would work closely with other departments to ensure timely and effective government services. “I will personally ensure that our systems work,” he vowed.
He urged civil servants to uphold their responsibilities, warning that non-performers would face consequences.
“The President has tasked me with ensuring quality service delivery. Civil servants must create an enabling environment for business and investment,” Ruku added.
Ruku also encouraged citizens to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA), saying the system is now functional and will address individual health needs.
Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene lauded the appointment, calling Ruku “approachable and effective,” while Baptist Church Mt. Kenya Region Moderator Albert Gitonga urged respectful dialogue between leaders and the public.
“People are free to critique, but not to criticize destructively. Don’t humiliate leaders in public—call them, have a meeting, and reason together if things are not going as expected,” Gitonga advised.
Munene added that the Mt. Kenya East region is solidly behind the Kenya Kwanza government, citing various ongoing development projects.
Ruku called on voters to re-elect President Ruto in 2027, saying a performing administration deserves time to complete its agenda.
