Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Monday held high-level consultations with the Council of Governors’ Health Committee to fast-track national health reforms, including the rollout of the Social Health Authority (SHA), digitization of health services, and absorption of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) staff.
The meeting, chaired by Wajir Governor and CoG Health Chairperson Ahmed Abdullahi, reached a consensus on several priority areas.
Key among them was the acceleration of digital health systems, with the Digital Health Agency tasked with evaluating current county systems and fast-tracking the digitization of all health facilities across the 47 counties.
On SHA, leaders agreed on increased funding for emergency, chronic, and critical illness cases.
Additional resources will go towards training Level 2 to Level 5 facility in-charges on SHA registration processes, system optimization, and product offerings.
Duale reiterated the ministry’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and strong partnerships with counties, saying the measures align with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and will boost the resilience of Kenya’s health system.

He also underscored the crucial role of healthcare workers in rolling out the Taifa Care Model and pledged to work with counties to address human resource challenges.
Present at the meeting were Principal Secretaries Mary Muthoni (Public Health) and Harry Kimtai (Medical Services), Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth, and Nyeri Governor and CoG Vice Chair Mutahi Kahiga, among other senior officials.
