Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industries (KNCCI) Embu chapter chairman, John Mugo Mate has issued a stern call to the county government to address the crisis and resolve the issues regarding the striking medics.
Mate expressed his dismay at the deteriorating situation, emphasizing the urgent need for the county government to intervene and find a lasting solution.
“It is unfortunate that regardless of the current economic hardships, locals can’t access healthcare services in our hospitals due to the ongoing medics strike,” he said.
Noting that the strike was jeopardizing the health and well-being of Embu citizens, Mate urged the County government to step up and address the concerns raised by the healthcare professionals.
“The county government should find a way of communicating with the striking doctors to resolve the issue. If they don’t come up with agreeable terms, then they can release them and bring in a new team to serve our people. We need services,” he noted.
The Chairman highlighted the crucial role that healthcare workers play, especially during these challenging times, stressing the importance of prioritizing their needs to ensure the provision of quality healthcare services.
This comes hours after the Embu MCAs threw their weight behind Governor Cecily Mbarire’s move to
replace striking medics.
