Catholic Diocese of Embu Bishop Peter Kimani has called on women to take an active role in shaping their families and society through prayer, respect, and making sound choices.
Speaking during the annual Diocesan Catholic Women Association (CWA) prayer day at St. Augustine Teachers Training College in Ishiara, Embu, on Saturday, Bishop Kimani emphasized the crucial role of mothers in parenting and leadership, stating that their influence is key to fostering a better future for Kenya.
“The way a woman treats her husband sets an example for how her children will behave,” Bishop Kimani said, urging women to uphold respect and good values.
“Follow your children to the end and guide them always,” he added.
The bishop encouraged mothers to help their children recognize their divine calling, emphasizing that women play a critical role in accompanying their children through life’s journey.
“You must make a good choice for your life to change positively; you must take a chance,” the bishop said, stressing that today’s decisions shape the future of families and the nation.
Addressing governance issues, Bishop Kimani acknowledged the challenge of poor leadership in Kenya but urged CWA members to remain prayerful. He noted that even in difficult circumstances, God can bring about positive change.

“God may use bad things to make up the best or good things,” he said, calling on women to continue praying for families, communities, and the nation.
The bishop also underscored the importance of faith-based education, encouraging parents to enroll their children in Catholic-sponsored schools.
He highlighted that such institutions provide holistic education that instills discipline and moral values, shaping responsible citizens.
Additionally, Bishop Kimani warned against corruption and urged women to be catalysts for positive change in their communities.
He raised concerns over the increasing idleness among young men, particularly in shopping centers, and urged women to actively guide and accompany them towards meaningful pursuits.
The annual CWA Prayer Day drew thousands of Catholic women from across the diocese, serving as a platform to emphasize the role of women in strengthening family values and promoting national unity through faith and responsible decision-making.
