- Tell us about yourself.
I am a graduate with a Bachelor of Education Arts, in English and Literature and have five years experience as a TSC Teacher and many years before formal employment. My key achievements include high performance in school with my subject English topping in every term, activism that revolutionized Health and other critical sectors in Embu, and engaging in successful philanthropy programs and community outreach. I see myself as a voice for the Voiceless.
I have also published a blockbuster novel that is moving around the world; Bestseller Betrayal of a Nun among other novels.
2. What motivates you and your long-term goals?
I am highly motivated by the works of great minds, philosophers, and thinkers, political revolutionaries like Nelson Mandela, Dr. Martin Luther King, Thomas Sankara, and those who stand for positive change like Nyerere Julius, Tom Mboya, Wangari Maathai, and great writers like Chinua Achebe.
Short-term goals: To foster impactful indirect leadership with critical change in the society and life of individuals. I have already brought positive change into the lives of several people within the county through my Community Outreach Programs. For instance, through the help of well-wishers, we offered Sh15,000 to a needy family at Ugweri, Kanjatiri village, and paid a Sh45,000 hospital bill for a youth who had been hospitalized at Embu Level 5 Hospital for close to a year among other things.
Long-term goals: I look forward to having global networks to create job opportunities for the youth. My overall mission is to agitate for better governance that could offer solutions to the problems facing human beings. As I work hard to be a world-class author with practical acumen and inspiration across the globe, I am striving to be a role model to a young person on the verge of losing hope.
3. Your challenging situation and how you approached it?
My most challenging situation was getting my degree at a cost close to a million, and I didn’t have much support. However, I triumphed against the odds and succeeded. Through high-power consultations with whom I interact and experts, I make the best choices, which I don’t regret later.
4. Your preferred working style?
My preferred style of working is Teamwork and Delegation. You can only achieve much by empowering your team—those who are with you and work towards achieving the same goal. If not, unleash your potential and reach out. Human resources can do much under room temperature. By making every member of the team feel valued, you have hit the jackpot.
5. How do you handle change to new situations or environments?
Change is inevitable in life. Life is constantly changing. So open-mindedness. I have worked as a B.O M. Teacher and it is not easy in new places, with different cultural backgrounds. But you get to loosen up. Also, in Activism which directly clashes with political class and government employees who are senior and with means. I have to engage in diplomacy and high-level consultations before airing anything. Being an author in a constantly changing literary landscape, versatility is key; Poems, prose, biographies name them, make one multi-talented and creative. This has helped me a lot in handling change.
6. Closing Remarks
In everything we do, let’s engage in planning. One ought to see possibilities instead of setbacks and work toward success. You can be everything you want. I have seen it happen. Manifest and nature will take its course.
