The Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Embu branch has organized a cycling race as a curtain-raiser ahead of the annual Embu ASK Show, set for March 13 to 15 at the Njukiri showground in Manyatta Constituency.
ASK Embu Chairman Martin Mutwiri said the race, set for March 1, aims to create awareness for the exhibition and has over Sh200,000 in prizes to be won.
This year’s show, themed “Promoting Climate-Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth,” is expected to attract at least 150 exhibitors who will showcase a variety of livestock, crops, products, services, and innovations.
Mutwiri said the cycling event would engage the public while promoting sustainable economic activities.
The race will begin at 8 a.m. at Moi Stadium in Embu town and pass through major markets in Manyatta Constituency, including Kangaru, Kairuri, Kiriari, Kianjokoma, Manyatta, Mutunduri, and Gakwegori, before returning to the starting point.
“It will feature two main categories: one for cyclists using road or mountain bikes and another for local “black mamba” bikes,” he said.
The event also offers sponsorship opportunities in three tiers: Gold (Sh30,000), Silver (Sh20,000), and Bronze (Sh10,000). Registration for both participants and sponsors requires submitting full names, phone numbers, and category preferences via 0728 133 419 or 0711 303 668.
Mutwiri encouraged cycling enthusiasts and the public to take part, noting that entry is free for fans and riders.
