The County Government of Embu has announced the establishment of the Embu County Revenue Board to streamline revenue collection and bolster local finances.
The initiative is poised to significantly enhance the efficiency and transparency of revenue collection within the county, ensuring sustainable development and improved public services for its residents.
Governor Cecily Mbarire officiated the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed board members.
Mbarire highlighted the pivotal role the board would play in helping the county achieve its revenue collection target of 1 Billion shillings.
Additionally, she emphasized the importance of combating corruption cases reported in revenue collection processes.
“Increased revenue collection is crucial for the improved workforce of county officials, which will ultimately contribute to the overall development of the county,” she said.
At the same time, governor Mbarire warned corrupt revenue officials who engage in cash transactions.
Mbarire reiterated her commitment to combat corruption in revenue collection, as it hampers the county’s ability to meet its revenue targets.
“I urge residents to report any instances of corruption by revenue officials. Revenue collection should only be done through mobile transactions,” she said.
